Republicans Won’t Vote For Biden’s Bill

Republicans are doing their best to hold up the newest bill that President Biden is pushing through Congress to send Americans another $1,400 in stimulus money.

The stimulus proposal is part of a $1.9 trillion bill that includes unemployment benefits and an increase in federal minimum wage among others.

Democrats now control the Senate with 50 out of 100 votes and VP Kamala Harris will break any ties.  However, due to filibuster rules, bills need 60 votes to get through the Senate before they make it to the President’s desk to be signed.

Therefore, Biden’s bill would need at least 10 Republicans to vote for this bill and potentially more if any Democrats are not supportive.
