This has got to be one of the weirdest holiday light displays of the season.
Plenty of people decorate their homes with strings of lights this time of year, but one 24-year-old woman in Kansas decided to put up a light display that is certain to land her on Santa’s “naughty” list.
What could be so naughty about Christmas lights?
That’s a Bold Move
Apparently, Shelby Gash from of Lenexa, Kansas, thought it would be hilarious to decorate her home with a penis-shaped light display. And I don’t mean a tiny one, either. Shelby used about 60 feet of leftover Christmas lights to trace the shape out across the roof of the house.
When she was done decorating, this jokester posted photos of her holiday creation on Facebook. “Sorry neighbors… I felt the need to make a giant d*ck on the roof,” she captioned the pictures, adding, “Tis the season!”
Of course, the local TV news, WDAF, had to show up to chat with her about her holiday dick-erations.
Shelby explained that her “giant glowing d*ck” was a brazen response to how “uptight” her neighborhood has gotten, telling the news, “The neighborhood’s kid of, like… vibe’s kind of gone down ’cause everyone’s kind of uptight.”
Shelby says that some of her neighbors share her sense of humor, saying that there are folks “stopping in the middle of the night taking photos and laughing,” and adds, “People think it’s so much fun. I think there’s a lot more laughter than it’s bringing out anything uncomfortable.”
Mixed Reactions From the Neighborhood
One of her neighbors, Christi Vergara, told the news crew, “I don’t know what I would’ve done if I would’ve driven… I probably would have wrecked my car laughing.”
And while the whole thing might be funny to some, Christi does acknowledge that she doesn’t “think it’s appropriate for little kids.”
Christi’s husband, Marcelo Vergara, also told WDAF that the festive phallic display is “a joke that wears out pretty quick” and also pointed out that it’s not exactly “in the Christmas spirit.”
Shelby apparently got the message. Even though she had plenty of fun with her naughty decoration, she decided to pull the plug on her light display after hearing neighbors’ concerns over kids seeing it.
“Sorry if this was actually really bothering people. I’m just trying to make a laugh.”
