Sorry, but our bodies are kind of gross. In fact, your body is doing some of the grossest things right now as you read this. Don’t believe me? Continue reading, and you’ll see what I mean.
I really hope you’re not eating anything at the moment.
You know how when you wake up in the morning, you sometimes have a bunch of gooey gunk trapped around your eyes? That gunk is called rheum, and it consists of all of the yucky dead debris your eyes leak throughout the day and night.
Brains Like Butter
Have you ever imagined what it would feel like to hold your brain in your hands? It doesn’t even have to be your brain… they all pretty much have the same consistency.
If you were to hold the most tender meat from the market and imagine it being slippery and soft like butter – that’s what a human brain feels like. Doesn’t that sound appetizing?
You are Covered in Dead Skin
By the time you’re actually able to see the skin that appears on the surface of your body, it is already dead and in the process of being sloughed off. Humans lose almost nine pounds of skin on a yearly basis, which is about the equivalent of a medium-sized cat.
Brimming with Bacteria
Intestines contain all kinds of icky things, like loads and loads of bacteria. Living bacteria that started to grow about two years after you were first born.
If you were to remove this bacteria, it would basically be the same thing as losing a vital organ, since that icky bacteria actually serves an important purpose.
Think about your mouth right at this moment. Do you feel the spit forming? Perhaps you notice that it feels like it is increasing as you read this. Guess what? It actually is, and your body has the ability to produce about 2 to 4 pints of it each and every day.
As gross as it sounds, you kind of need it. Otherwise, you’d never be able to consume your favorite salty, snacky foods!
You Are Covered in Creepy Crawly Little Bugs
Yep! Right this very second. You are absolutely covered in teeny tiny little mites whose sole purpose is to eat all of the little oils and dead stuff off of the surface of your skin. They’re even in your eyeballs!
